Description

Who we are:

The Pennypit Community Development Trust project has operated for over 25 years and offers a wide variety of services to a number of individuals and groups in Prestonpans and the surrounding areas. These have been developed over the years on a community needs basis and supported by local partnerships.

The Pennypit promotes and provides sport, community nutrition, volunteering, youth work and community development. We have a small team of dedicated staff and equally dedicated session workers who run our youth clubs all underpinned by a healthy respect.

We mainly target vulnerable groups and young people to create opportunities for them in the community. Our project aims to improve our community's health and well-being by delivering a programme of activities.

Request: We would be delighted to receive donations or funds for IT equipment (Laptops, Computers, iPads etc). We need this to support our educational and skills teaching youth club; the kit will help us deliver youth work sessions that help local high school pupils with school work, homework, and learning extra skills and qualifications for future life.

How this will help: We have recently started a Homework Club for some local pupils. Increasingly, homework requires young people to access online resources, but not all families have a laptop, tablet, or PC.

Pennypit staff have been using their laptops for these activities, but there are not enough for all participants.

Results so far…….

Teachers have reported a very positive impact on the young people who have been accessing this club, in some cases, academic achievement and engagement have substantially increased.
