The Gathering 2025
The Gathering 2025
Tuesday 4 & Wednesday 5 February
EICC, Edinburgh
Katharine from the ESES Communities Team attended SCVO's ‘The Gathering’ Conference in Edinburgh on February 4th and 5th. She described it as a vibrant, energetic, and excellent networking event. See her summary below.

On day 1, I attended the ‘In Conversation with Gordon Brown’ session, where he shared his compassion for communities and spoke passionately about the invaluable role of charities and the voluntary sector across Scotland. He emphasised the necessity for connection, cooperation and partnership working – and how hope has to be revived. Through sharing his own personal and professional experiences, he gave us humourous and thought-provoking insights into his exchanges with Nelson Mandela and Barack Obama.
On day 2 I attended:
- Cornerstone’s ‘Menopause Awareness Project’ where they shared their journey on becoming the first social care organisation in Scotland to be independently accredited as 'Menopause Friendly'.
- SAMH’s ‘Creating Mentally Healthy Workplaces’ which gave an overview of ways to support and manage positive mental health in the workplace.
- ‘Implementing Fair Work - Next Steps’ hearing an update from the Fair Work Convention and a superb example from Cove Park, an artist’s residency based on Scotland's rural west coast.
This was an excellent event, and further details can be found here The Gathering 2025 - The Gathering - SCVO.
