Can you fund a bat box kit?

Roslin Moat is a local biodiversity site on the edge of Roslin and is enjoyed by many villagers and visitors to the area. The Friends of Roslin Moat promote nature conservation and biodiversity on the site.

Roslin has a good population of bats, but they are under pressure as more homes are built in the village and their habitat is lost. We would therefore like to provide some bat boxes at the Roslin Moat nature reserve to provide more roosting sites for these important (but often maligned) mammals.

 

We plan to arrange bat box building sessions with local children which we think they will enjoy, and this will also help raise awareness.

A bat box kit costs around £20, and we'd like to buy 20 of them - an overall cost of £400. We'd be happy to add a logo/ 'sponsored by sign' to the boxes.

Ideally, we'd like to run the bat box building session at Roslin fete which is on Saturday 7th September 2024.
