Donation of Pinboards

Community Renewal
Description
A community centre in south east Edinburgh has benefitted from the donation of pinboards thanks to Bell UK and Fettes College.
As part of a project to refurbish their boarding accommodation, a number of items which were still in good condition have been donated to good causes.
This comes after Community Renewal, who run Bingham Community Centre, made a request for furnishings and items at the centre – which has been closed for 2 years – as part of plans to reopen.
The charity – which also has sites in North Edinburgh at Pennywell as well as in the Govanhill area of Glasgow – undertakes a range of community development projects focusing on wellbeing, food poverty, employability, young people and peer support.
Sheila Thomson, said “Owing to the pandemic and a number of other reasons we reluctantly had to take the decision to temporarily close our Bingham centre. Now we are in a position to reopen to the public and continue our outreach into the communities of Bingham, Magdalene and the Hays, we find ourselves in need of support and a few items to spruce it up such as soft furnishings and a lick of paint. The pinboards however are also something we’ve been looking for, providing us with a central place to post information for the local community and any key updates for staff, volunteers and those passing through the centre. This is the second time we’ve managed to benefit from the ESES Communities website for a request and we’re delighted to have received these pinboards from Fettes College through Bell.”
Jamie Hughes, Social Value Coordinator for Bell said: “Having been made aware of the ESES Communities site earlier in the year we immediately thought of the side of our business which undertakes clearances of furniture and removals from all types of commercial properties and things like the boarding units at Fettes. Our first aim is to always find a good home for things from the perspective of diverting items from landfill which can find a life elsewhere, as well as supporting good causes which would otherwise go without or have to pay for items. Community Renewal obviously do some valuable work with their local communities, so anything we can do to support them is great.”
Bell hold a number of public and private contracts across Edinburgh, the Lothians, Borders and Fife as the UK’s largest painting and decorating supplier, with a developing premises clearance arm. They are a family-owned business which values community engagement and supporting good causes.
