Picnic Table required for Roslin Medical Practice
Roslin Guerrilla Gardeners
Description
Can you provide a park bench to help hardworking NHS staff?
Roslin Guerrilla Gardeners look after community spaces in the village, partly inspired by other guerrilla gardening groups in Midlothian; and partly because the council has no spare money for this sort of activity.
We have cleared out the old weeds and shrubs and planted fruit trees; pollinator-friendly plants and bulbs to enhance the areas; and provide welcoming sights for passers-by.
We have just started on our latest project - at Roslin Medical Practice - we have installed a planter and 3 apple trees so far. The feedback about this was extremely positive but also sad. We heard how the staff are under so much pressure (the number of patients has doubled, but the number of staff is unchanged) and that just the sight of a bit of colour as they go into work gives them a little boost.
We would love to do more here. The practice stands in a large green space, but there is nowhere for anyone to sit and relax outside. We would like to install a picnic table to help lift the mood for staff and of course patients.
