Regional Anchors: Share and Connect
On Wednesday, the 11th of June, we co-hosted the "Regional Anchors: Share and Connect" event held at Greyfriars Charteris Centre.
As a proud member of the Edinburgh Anchor Network, we were truly inspired by the powerful discussions and collaborative spirit focused on advancing Community Wealth Building in our city, with a particular emphasis on the critical theme of Fair Work.
The insights shared by the guest speakers were invaluable:
Chris Adams from The City of Edinburgh Council opened our minds to the ambitions and practicalities of Edinburgh's Fair Work Charter.
Lynn Anderson from Living Wage Scotland powerfully underscored the tangible impact of a real Living Wage. Her insights reinforced how paying a fair wage is not just an ethical imperative but a fundamental driver of local economic resilience and a vital component of true Community Wealth Building.
Martin Higgins from Public Health, NHS Lothian, brought a crucial perspective, highlighting the profound link between Fair Work and public health outcomes. His contributions reminded us that good work contributes significantly to the well-being of individuals and communities, demonstrating how Fair Work is integral to creating healthier, more prosperous places.
The collective expertise shared by Chris, Lynn, and Martin truly deepened our understanding of how Fair Work is not just a 'nice to have' but an essential component of robust Community Wealth Building. We are more energised than ever to collaborate within the Edinburgh Anchor Network to champion these principles and create a fairer, more equitable, and thriving Edinburgh for all.
Huge thanks to everyone who attended and contributed to such a successful and thought-provoking event!
