Social Business in the Scottish Borders

28 Aug 2025

Over the past two years, we’ve been developing our Social Business Directory to support inclusive and socially responsible procurement. The directory is designed to help City Deal building contractors and suppliers easily identify and engage with Social Businesses that provide goods and services.

Our aim is to make it easier for suppliers to buy from organisations that deliver real social impact.

As a result of the endeavour, we have had the pleasure of meeting the following social businesses in the Scottish Borders.

Café ReCharge diverts surplus supermarket food destined for landfill to prepare fresh, tasty meals in their friendly and welcoming café. They offer outside catering; find out more here.

Eat, Sleep, Ride is a vibrant community facility in the Scottish Borders. It offers Leadership and Team-Building Workshops and Event Space with Gardens. You can find it in our directory here.

Hike and Bike Hub promotes walking and cycling for health, leisure, and active travel. They offer Bike repairs and servicing, led cycle rides, and cycle skills/maintenance sessions. You can find them here.

Home Basics provides low-cost furniture and household items for people on low incomes. They encourage a reuse society and offer fantastic furniture at great prices. Find out more here.

Instinctively Wild CIC is a Social Enterprise that offers a range of fun outdoor team-building activities. They can access outdoor sites across the Lothians and Borders. Find out more here.
