Edinburgh Remakery Supports CWC
The Edinburgh Remakery
The Edinburgh Remakery is an environmental social enterprise based in Leith, North Edinburgh. Their mission is to put an end to waste by providing people and communities with the skills and opportunities to live more sustainably.

They understand that access to technology is essential for education, access to health and benefit services, employment, and social connection. Their programme refurbishes donated laptops, desktops, and other devices, giving them a new lease on life. They gift 20% of these refurbished devices to individuals, families, and organisations who need them.
The Community Wellbeing Collective
The Community Wellbeing Collective (CWC) is a socially engaged art collective of 30+ people living in and connected to Wester Hailes. They are a diverse, intergenerational, intercultural, working-class community-led and run organisation - imagining, practising and creating space for collective wellbeing towards change.
Their space in Wester Hailes, is run by and for the people, offering over 350+ free activities and welcomes over 7000+ visitors per year.

The Request: Can you donate a projector?
Bobby and Lorena from the Community Wellbeing Collective contacted the ESES Communities Team because they were looking for a projector for their multi-use space. They needed this for their community cinema session and plan to upgrade their community space so that organisations can use it for training and other purposes.
The Remakery's Funding and Partnership Manager, Barbara Hamilton, said, “We have known about the ESES Communities portal for a while. We use it to donate and request support when we need it. We had a projector donated to us that we didn't need, and it was opportune that I was viewing the portal not long after this request was posted.”

We contacted the ESES Communities Team to say we could help, and they organised the collection from us and the drop off to the Community Wellbeing Collective. ESES Communities is a great service for everyone in our sector. It's great to be of help where we can, and to have help provided when we need it. There is a real spirit of collaboration.
Bobby Sayers, Co-Initiator of the Community Wellbeing Collective, said:
Each cinema event invites around 40 people for screenings, but this will be used by many, so roughly 400 people per year, or more, will benefit from this donation.
This projector will allow us to program so many more events, from community cinema events to workshops and talks of all kinds. Not only allowing more entertainment and more insight into new stories and perspectives, but also a real tool for accessibility as we can now present information that is large scale and readable.

Thank you so much Edinburgh Remakery. Honestly, it's donations and support like this that make things happen. You have put a huge smile on many people's faces! Please do reach out if there is anything we can do for you in return. All the best, Community Wellbeing Collective.
