New England Bio Labs Support Literacy
Recently New England Bio Labs supported 6 projects in the Edinburgh & South East City Region area with contributions towards their activities in the community.
New England Biolabs was founded in the mid-1970s as a collective of scientists committed to developing innovative products for the life sciences industry. They are proud to be a world leader in the discovery and production of enzymes for molecular biology applications.
As part of their contract with the University of Edinburgh, New England Biolabs is committed to engaging in Community Benefits throughout Edinburgh and South East Scotland.
They are motivated by a set of core, foundational values:
- Being a Responsible Company
- Activism
- Philanthropy and Foundation Support
- Environmental Stewardship
They were keen to support Super Power Agency as this aligns with their University of Edinburgh contract - part of which is to support local community initiatives.
Super Power Agency is a literacy charity based in Edinburgh. Their mission is to help young people write their story. Their writing programmes allow young people to discover their confidence and imagination, and in turn aim to increase literacy rates in Scotland.
They run creative writing workshops in schools, building self-belief and engagement, and print young people's work in anthologies at the conclusion of each project so they become published authors.
Their work could not be done without the support of their 200 volunteer, and they were asking for support so that they could buy them a gift to help them feel valued.
This donation will be used for 10 book tokens to be gifted during our Christmas thank you party. We’re so grateful for this generous donation, which allows us to show appreciation to our amazing volunteers. Their time and dedication are the heart of what we do, and these gifts are a small way to say thank you for their incredible support throughout the year.
