Shredall SDS Group Support Dementia Charity
Shredall SDS Group offer a comprehensive information management service, encompassing shredding and recycling, document storage, and scanning.
As part of their supply contract with the University of Edinburgh, they are asked to engage with the ESES Communities Team to explore opportunities for social value investment in Edinburgh and Southeast Scotland.
Through this contact, they were introduced to STAND, a charity promoting the well-being of people living with dementia in Fife.
STAND, Striving Towards A New Day, promotes the well-being of people living with dementia in Fife.
They do this by:
- Offering local dementia friendly meeting centre spaces led by people living with a diagnosis of dementia and their families and friends, supported by workers and volunteers.
- Developing training for people with a diagnosis of dementia, created and delivered by people living a good life with dementia.
- Influencing local and national policy and strategy, and getting involved in research projects.
- Involvement in other projects, including work with young people, friends, and family.
The Ask:
They have a live request on the ESES Communities Portal seeking funding to support their music sessions, which have had a profoundly positive impact on participants. In the request, they state that £320 would cover 4 one-hour-long sessions.
Shredall SDS Group saw the request and was keen to help. Here is what STAND have to say.
“Members have enjoyed musicians' visits to the groups to allow them to gently be involved in creative songwriting. STAND works with talented young musicians who encourage members to share thoughts, stories, and memories, and help them develop these into song lyrics, which they then put to music and sing with the group."
We really appreciate your donation, which funded musicians who have the talent and expertise to enable people living with dementia and their families to enjoy music and creativity.
“We’re proud to have supported STAND and the incredible work they do for people living with dementia and their families. When we saw their request for help to fund creative music sessions, we knew it was something we wanted to be part of. These sessions bring joy, connection, and confidence to those who take part, and we’re delighted our contribution could help make them possible. Being able to give back to the community in a meaningful way is really important to us, and we’re grateful for the opportunity to support such an impactful initiative.”
