Can you help make a carer's day?
Carers of East Lothian
Description
Could you work with us at Carers of East Lothian and help us make a carer’s day?
Who?
‘Respitality’ is a Scottish government-backed initiative delivered locally by ‘Carers of East Lothian’. Respitality aims to provide a short, vital break from routine for unpaid carers in Scotland when they need it most.
There are 788,000 unpaid carers in Scotland. Carers are people who provide unpaid care for a family member, friend, or neighbour who could not manage without this support because of a long-term illness, disability, or neurological difference. The illness can be a physical or mental health condition or an addiction.

What?
It is a simple yet powerful concept that offers unpaid carers in Scotland a much-needed break to enhance their well-being.
A break can be anything that helps a carer relax and recharge so that they can continue to care for their loved one, e.g. coffee and cake, afternoon tea, a beauty treatment or massage, a meal out, tickets to an event, a game of bingo or even a yoga retreat, overnight accommodation or a family break.
We are happy to work with local businesses who wish to donate a break to unpaid carers. You can do this by donating a break directly or making a monetary donation that we will use to purchase an appropriate break for carers.
We match the breaks with carers according to their interests, preferences and circumstances, and any donation could make a huge difference to a carer’s day.
