Hub Space Needed

Lil (Lower Impact Living ) CIC

Status: Open Request
Location: East Lothian
Town: Haddington

Description

Lil is a community interest company, 100% of funds are invested in delivering projects. Lil connects, inspires, and empowers communities to deliver positive outcomes for people and our planet. We deliver projects focussed on facilitating a circular economy and host the East Lothian Climate Hub (62+ community groups). Home - East Lothian Climate Hub

We are seeking a low-cost/donated building space to host the Lower Impact Living Hub. As a minimum we need office and meeting space for a minimum of 5 people and some storage – our reuse festivals attract huge piles of donations.

The team of 5 work remotely but need office space. The Climate Hub's key themes are retrofit/energy advice, regenerative food, climate literacy, and biodiversity.

Lil is primarily focused on waste minimisation and reducing the impacts of consumption on nature - There is no waste in nature so let's follow her lead! The Hub will be a focal point for promoting the circular economy to communities and businesses across the County, housing a refillery, bike hire/maintenance including Cargo Bikes, repair cafe, advice surgeries clothes exchange, reuse festivals, hot desk space (to reduce commuting) and more.

Lil CIC has big ambitions to create a Sustainability Hub for our communities to act as a centre of gravity for a broad range of services, projects and resources enabling everyone to find their role in climate action.

In a perfect world, we would be able to find a hub to not only house the team, but also all the other uses mentioned in the description above. These deliver outcomes for the planet but also opportunities for people: supporting those on low incomes, creating employment and skills training, volunteering and social opportunities.

Location: East Lothian wide. Haddington lacks an active sustainability group despite being the county town, but draws visitors countywide. We would happily consider other locations in East Lothian.

This hub has the potential to impact thousands of people, becoming a centre of excellence for circular living and climate & nature action. We are happy to work collaboratively.
