Sponsor A Tech Donation Box

Description

What if the old laptop sitting in a drawer could help someone get back online?

Edinburgh Remakery's Tech Donation Boxes make it easy for people to donate unwanted personal laptops, tablets, smartphones, chargers and other small tech, rather than letting valuable resources go to waste.

Every device donated is collected and assessed by their team. Where possible, they securely wipe, repair and refurbish tech so it can be reused.

A portion of the refurbished devices are gifted through their Tech Gifting Programme, helping people facing digital exclusion get connected and access essential online opportunities. Items that cannot be reused are responsibly recycled. It's a practical way to reduce e-waste while helping people access education, employment and essential online services.

In 2025, they had:

• 36 Tech Donation Box locations
• saved 7,900 items from landfill
• diverted 9.3 tonnes of e-waste

The programme also prevented an estimated 1 million kilograms of CO₂ emissions from being released.

That's what happens when communities come together to give unwanted tech a second life.

For businesses and organisations, hosting a Tech Donation Box is a straightforward way to engage colleagues, customers and local communities in sustainability.

It brings repair and reuse into everyday conversations; supports your social and environmental goals; and creates a visible opportunity for people to take action.

Edinburgh Remakery are a registered data wipe organisation with ISO 27001 accreditation so you can trust that any data will be handled securely.

They can also provide environmental impact and carbon savings reporting, helping you share the difference your organisation has made and support lasting change.
