Town: East Linton

Description

Forge and Equip is a new and unique social enterprise working to sustainably provide meaningful training opportunities to people who have faced barriers to learning and work. Our long-term aim is to develop our commercial services in welding and fabrication so that the surplus is entirely reinvested in our 'Route to Employment' training programmes.

During this startup phase, we are looking for funding and support to help us get up and running. Donations from outside organisations make a massive difference to our ability to deliver the tailored support individuals often need.

By supporting us, your organisation is positively impacting the long-term employability prospects for our trainees, their families, and the Scottish welding sector at large. The welding sector faces massive shortages, and colleges cannot meet the demand for skilled workers.

Our workshop is based in East Linton, though we often do introduction woodwork classes in other places, including Tranent and Prestonpans.

Our Ask:

Our trainees (those facing barriers to training and work) need PPE and basic supplies to join the programme. Each year, we need approximately 40 units of the following:

  • Steel-toe cap work boots
  • Welding aprons
  • Dust masks
  • Safety glasses
  • Basic tools and equipment, including measuring tapes, hammers, basic work gloves, sandpaper, and paintbrushes
  • Some of these larger items would also be welcome, including welding machines, welding masks, drills, cutting saws, and welding gases.
