Location: Carrington, Midlothian
Town: Carrington

Description

In a rural community, a village hall is more than just a building, it is often the heartbeat of the area. Managed entirely by a passionate team of local volunteers, Carrington Village Hall exists to enrich the lives of everyone living in Carrington, Midlothian.

Their goal is simple: to create a warm, inclusive hub that reduces social isolation by offering meaningful ways to connect.

They believe that regular, enjoyable activities are the best antidote to rural loneliness and provide a calendar of sessions and events which feature everything from gentle yoga sessions to creative craft classes, complemented by bustling coffee mornings where the community can catch up. They regularly use the space to celebrate together, hosting everything from community dances and craft fairs to BBQ’s.

They are also incredibly proud of their broader community outreach. A highlight of being year includes welcoming tandem cycling teams where sighted and blind cyclists ride together and treating them to a well-deserved, hearty lunch and warm hospitality.

How Can You Support?

They would like to construct a footpath, approximately 12x1 meters, to make access over gravel to the hall entrance, easier for elderly people, wheelchair users and people with pushchairs, to ensure that the entrance is accessible for all.

They envisage needing - materials required to construct a short footpath approximately 12mx1m) namely, paving slabs, sand and cement.

They have volunteers prepared to do the work, but they do not have the necessary materials so would welcome any financial donations or support from contractors in the area who would like to support this hub of the community.
