Mood Project and Balfour Beatty

MOOD provides activities to promote mental health and enhance well-being across the West Lothian area.

Their mission is to equip individuals with the skills and knowledge to prevent mental health decline, reduce isolation and create a safe, enjoyable, nurturing environment for social engagement with their peers.

Based in Stoneyburn, they serve people aged 18 years and over, providing a range of activities which include: arts and crafts, crocheting, jewellery making knitting, a ‘Shed Your Worries’ hut and a wellbeing garden.

The construction firm Balfour Beatty are well known to the ESES Communities Team.

They registered on our portal when initially involved with the Edinburgh & South East Scotland City Region Deal project at the Edinburgh Futures Institute for the University of Edinburgh.

Since then, we have developed an ongoing, strong and positive relationship with them.

In January 2025, Balfour Beatty approached us to say that they had a large number of pallets they could deliver to any organisation who would potentially find these useful and give them a second lease of life.

I just want to thank you so very much for the pallets. They are such good quality that the folks are making a storage area for our “Shed Your Worries” Project in the Wellbeing Garden. The guys are over the moon with them. The gent that delivered them was lovely too."
